People search for "GTO Wizard alternative" when what they want is a solver in the hand rather than a solver on Sunday afternoon. GTO Wizard is the best study library in poker and does not look at your table. GTO MAX AI looks at nothing else. The honest comparison is about which job you are hiring for.

What GTO Wizard is for
GTO Wizard's value is breadth. Millions of pre-solved spots across stack depths, bet-size families and formats, a trainer that drills you against them and scores your deviations, an analyzer that marks up uploaded hands, and since 2026 "AI solving" of custom spots on the higher tiers. If you want to know how often the button should check back top pair on K72 rainbow at 40bb, and why, nothing is faster. The tiers at the time of writing: Starter $49, Premium $99, Elite $169 and Ultra $359 a month, cheaper on annual billing, per format.
It is also, deliberately, the opposite of a live tool. GTO Wizard works with GGPoker's security team to catch real-time assistance by comparing players' frequencies with solver output. Buying it to use mid-hand gets you a slow workflow and, on a public room, a closed account.
What GTO MAX AI is for
GTO MAX AI is a poker coach RTA. You open app.gtomax.ai in Chrome or Edge, pick the room, share the table window, and press Start. Nothing is downloaded and nothing is calibrated: each room's reader is already fitted. From then on the overlay reads the hand off the pixels several times a second, solves the spot, and shows two tables side by side: pure GTO, and the exploit line against the players who are actually in the pot.
- Player sampling. Every hand you play is recorded under your account. Each opponent gets a profile that follows them across sessions and screen names: VPIP, PFR, 3-bet, c-bet, fold to c-bet, aggression, showdown behaviour, your notes.
- Reads with confidence. Each tendency is a Beta-binomial estimate. The exploit table deviates from GTO only when the sample beats the noise, and the overlay shows the confidence bar so you know when a read is real.
- Best lines, explained. The solver picks the mix; a random number picks the branch so you do not; an AI model writes two sentences of why from the numbers and your notes.
- Multi-table. Up to four tables, each with its own reader and panel.
Its limits are the mirror of Wizard's. There is no library of other people's spots to browse, no drill mode, no tournament ICM yet. It is built for the hand in front of you.
Price per hour, not per month
Wizard is a monthly subscription you use between sessions; GTO MAX AI is weekly and used during them. A regular who studies two evenings a week and plays four pays about $99 a month to Wizard and $316 to $716 a month to GTO MAX AI depending on plan. The second number buys something the first cannot: a decision with the opponent priced in, at the moment it is made. Whether that is worth it depends on your stakes and your game's rules.
Where each is allowed
Wizard: everywhere, any time away from the table. GTO MAX AI: in games whose rules permit study aids at the table, which means private clubs and home games that say so, play-money and training tables, review and coaching. Public rooms ban real-time assistance and we do not recommend using any RTA there. Our page on what RTA is covers how rooms detect it.
Who should run both
Most of the serious GTO MAX AI users we know keep a Wizard subscription. The pattern: study the structure of solutions in Wizard, where you have time and the full tree; play with the coach, where you have eight seconds and a specific opponent. The two tools do not compete for the same hour of your week. If you can only afford one: if your game allows RTA and you play more than you study, the coach; otherwise the library.
